Classification of Creation (as evolution stages) is based on configuration of sheaths.
Sheath (Kosha): – The specific part (of a unit) which performs a definite activity based on unit’s intent or purpose, and is responsible for its tendency is sheath.
Sheath means being full of. Fullness with inspiration itself is etheric sheath (pranmaya kosha).
Fullness with inspiration means being full of energy, power and magnetism. Being full of inspiration atomic particles have mutual recognition and regulation, maintaining definite distance among themselves, and evidence conduct of an atom. This tendency (of being full of inspiration) in an atom itself is etheric sheath.
Each of infinite creations have distinct configuration of five sheaths (koshas). These five sheaths (koshas) are known as etheric sheath (pranmaya kosha), physical sheath (annamaya kosha), mind sheath (manomaya kosha), bliss sheath (anandmaya kosha) and wisdom sheath (vigyanmaya kosha) respectively.
Etheric sheath, Physical sheath and Mind sheath are evident and manifested also in material world; while Bliss sheath and Wisdom sheath are evident and manifested only in conscious world.
Physical sheath (Annamaya kosha): – The part of a unit that performs inclusion or expulsion activities is known as physical sheath.
Etheric sheath (Pranmaya kosha): – The part of a unit that accepts or rejects inspiration is known as etheric sheath.
Mind sheath (Manomaya kosha): – The part of a unit that performs choice is known as mind sheath.
Bliss sheath (Anandmaya kosha): – The part of a unit that expresses happiness or sorrow is known as bliss sheath.
Wisdom sheath (Vigyanmaya kosha): – The part of a unit that receives (realizes) essential knowledge is known as wisdom sheath.
